Main Services Offered By Exploration Drilling Companies

The following are the main services offered by exploration drilling companies:

Exploration Drilling– This is a process of searching for oil and gas resources. It also includes testing the soil conditions of a certain area.

Reclamation Drilling- This is done to reclaim an existing well that has been abandoned. This may be required after an accident, such as fire or blowout, or when the company no longer needs the well site. The reclamation helps restore the land to its original conditions before it was used as an oil field. Companies use different techniques and equipment depending on what they plan to use it for, such as backfilling and plugging procedures to make the area safe again. They say that one of the best methods is to re-use the well. Companies can do this by cutting off and hauling away the derrick and drilling pipe and then cleaning up any other debris on site. If they’re going to use it as a water supply, they usually drill through the casing into the open hole below it.

Site Clearing- This involves clearing an area of land before oil exploration activities can begin. The site clearing process includes removing trees/shrubs vegetation, cutting down trees, grading irregularities, etc., according to what is needed for the optimal performance of exploration tools or machinery. Site clearance permits are required in most countries, making operation rather difficult and expensive due to environmental issues associated with damaging areas where new equipment will be operating on, including roads, power lines, etc.

Fracturing- This is a process used in oil and gas extraction. Fracturing involves pumping fluids into the ground at high pressure to fracture rocks to allow natural gas or petroleum to flow out of rock formations for collection.

Well, Cleaning – Cleaning an existing well to enhance production. The casing needs to be cleaned regularly for production equipment to function efficiently; otherwise, it would not be possible for the drillers to obtain maximum production after drilling their wells. Well, cleaning helps remove any deposits like sand, cuttings, scale (mineral build-up), paraffin wax (a thick liquid or semi-solid form of hydrocarbons or other impurities within a good bore), asphaltenes (very large molecules composed of as many as thousands of fused hydrocarbon rings), etc. from the casing, tubing or wellbore to ensure a free flow of oil and gas towards the surface during production.

Surface Casing: This is a process done before drilling begins to protect freshwater aquifers from pollution caused by work being performed at a well site, particularly produced water that may seep into formations containing potable groundwater. It involves pouring cement between layers of steel pipe installed inside the hole. When finished, it forms layers between groundwater and whatever is being done to extract natural gas from the ground.
