Know All About Essential Components Of Nurse Call System

Every Healthcare system requires nurse call systems to ensure that staff and nurses are available to help patients in a timely manner. This system isn’t just a call button that makes your staff within reach of patients; now, it has been added with advanced features. Law requires the healthcare system and senior citizen care facility to install a basic call system. However, many healthcare centers have started installing advanced systems so nurses can cater to the emergency and routine needs of their patients.

What is a Nurse Call System?

No matter if it’s a basic or advanced system, the primary purpose of it is to allow the patient to furnish contact with his nurse or nurse station easily. The two-way communication between patients and nurses is made possible through it. Some systems enable staff to communicate with one another while others are designed to locate staff quickly.

Common Component of a Basic System

To get a better understanding of the nurse call system, you must know what is included in the standard system.

Call light – Almost every system is designed with a pillow speaker through which a patient can immediately contact a nurse. Also, he can use it as a remote for the TV and overbed light. This system might bring alternative breath calls usually installed in the room of a patient with limited movement and paralysis. This breath call is plugged into the wall station. It lets the patient contact a nurse through inhaling or exhaling into a specific tube.

Wall Station – another conventional equipment is a wall station that has an integrated speaker and microphone. A patient can communicate with a nurse easily. This system also has a connection of IV pumps and ventilators. In case equipment goes off, an alarm will be sent to the nurse call station for immediate help.

Bed Cable – This cable comes with a bedrail button, which a patient can use to get help from a nurse. This cable is connected with a wall station. In case a patient tries to exit from the room, an alert will be sent to the nursing staff so that they can take necessary measures.

Desk Console – it looks exactly like a telephone, and its primary function is to allow patients and nurses to communicate with each other as and when required.

Code Blue -this is one of the most critical components of the nurse call system as it activates in case of any emergency. When a patient needs immediate help from staff, then it sends quick alerts to staff members.
