Modelling can be a rewarding career; however, most new models are not aware of how to start modelling. Here are some simple steps to help you on your way.
Step 1 — Research Agencies in Your Area
Most models start their career by signing with an agency; they usually meet an Agency at a fashion show or trade show and express interest in becoming a model. The next step is for the model to sign up with this agency. However, there are hundreds of agencies in each city and country; which one should you sign up with?
This is a question asked by many new models. There are no right or wrong answers; however, it’s important to do your research first before signing up. We recommend visiting the agency website and researching the models they currently represent and how long they have been signed to that agency. Then decide whether or not this is an agency that will help your career cause; if it’s not, we suggest moving onto another agency.
Step 2 — Fill Out an Application Form
Once you’ve selected an Agency, we recommend sending them a copy of your Model Application form, so they get to know you better and understand what look you’re trying to portray during your career.
Step 3 — Attend an Open Call
This is the next step in the process; usually, an agency will invite you to an open call where they get to see you up close and express what your look may be good for. Many agencies take upskirt shots of models during this process, so make sure to cover your panties with pantyhose or body tape. Again, there are no right or wrong answers regarding how you should act or what you should wear at this stage. The main objective is to show them your personality and posing ability while also getting a feel of the atmosphere created by other people attending these events. Don’t worry if other girls look better than you showing up; many of them will quit after a few attempts; by then, you’ll have landed the job.
Step 4 — Land That Job
Landing that first job is an important process in modelling; they see how well you perform on the catwalk and what looks they can expect from this how to start modelling. So make sure to smile and hold your head high when walking across that runway. This will give the impression that you are confident in whatever clothes or even underwear you may be wearing! However, if it’s not your strong point, please consider taking classes. Modelling is more than just standing in front of a camera looking pretty!
