Irrigation involves the application of specific amounts of water to plants. This is done at planned intervals concerning the particular plants that are within a particular piece of land.
What is an Irrigation System?
This is a watering system that is installed in a planted area to provide sufficient water to the plants. It varies depending on the vastness of the land and the kind of plants one has. There are two ways which irrigation is done. These include the following;
• Drip Irrigation
• Sprinkler Irrigation
• Surface Irrigation
Drip Irrigation
Install an irrigation installation system allows you to hydrate the plants at their roots without making the surface wet. This is effective because water is utilized fully; there is the much-needed penetration where it is needed the most. Water is gradually released to the plants through selected irrigation lines. It requires skilled personnel for installation.
Sprinkler Irrigation
Unlike its counterpart above, this irrigation system involves the overhead supply of water to plants. Water is emitted in a downpour by the sprinklers. It covers a large area of the landscape, thus an excellent choice for plantations. Its usage is not limited. It can be used in all types of landscape. It is expensive to install since one has to part with a hefty amount upfront. Its operations can be interfered with by wind. This causes an inconsistent distribution of water to plants.
Surface Irrigation
This mode allows for equal distribution of water by pouring it from above. It takes advantage of gravity, and its concept is to flood the soil and wait for balanced absorption of the same.
Requirements
For one to be allowed to install an irrigation system, the following must be put into consideration;
• Review all legal requirements and acquire permits and licenses to start your project.
• Divide your land according to the water requirement levels of the plants therein
• Come up with a plan for irrigation
• Choose a watering system that you would like to use.
• Plan the rate of the flow of water you intend to disperse
• Make purchases for the equipment you will require according to your choice of watering system.
Installation
After purchasing your equipment, you can seek the services of experienced and certified professionals for installation purposes. It is important to consult them to ensure proper facilities. On the contrary, one can install these by himself if he is in a proper understanding of the processes that are required. This is because there may occur loses should they be fixed wrongly.
